East Elliott is a filmmaker from North London based in New York City. His work explores class, race, violence and dysfunctional romantic and family dynamics through a unique, unconventional and often comedic language.
He was the 2022 recipient of the BAFTA/Pigott and Hollywood Foreign Press Scholarships in support of his pursuit of his MFA at New York University’s Tisch Graduate Film program. In 2023 he was awarded the Spike Lee Film Production Fund for his thesis short film From Sidney, With Love. The film will begin production in England in December, 2024. Most recently, he was commissioned by Isabella Rossellini to write and direct Dead Weight for her silent short film series, which begins production in April 2024.
He has worked in development at Goldcrest and Saboteur Productions under the direct tutelage of Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker, Nick Quested, on a series of projects exploring the prison industrial complex, police brutality and the Hells Angels.
He is an lifelong and diehard Arsenal supporter and felt that it was absolutely necessary to mention that here.
